Private testing: This notice describes the current invitation-only development test. Good Old TV is operated by Robert Michael Anthony Beddow.
Good Old TV provides an app that controls a paired TV Gadget. This policy describes information handled by the Good Old TV app and TV Gadget cloud service.
Information handled
- Account information supplied through Firebase Authentication, such as email address and basic profile information returned by the selected sign-in method.
- Gadget ownership, invited-controller access and security records needed to pair and authorize a Gadget.
- Gadget operational state, channel names/provider types, remote commands and their delivery results.
- Owner-configured programme links. These are restricted to the owner and are not shared with invited controllers.
- Application and installation identifiers, integrity attestations, IP address, user-agent information, and limited security/operational logs needed to prevent abuse and diagnose service failures.
The app uses the camera only to scan a Gadget QR code. TV Gadget does not upload or retain camera images from that scan. Streaming-service passwords are not stored by the Good Old TV app or TV Gadget cloud service. Provider authentication cookies and supported playback tokens remain on the paired Gadget.
Why information is used
Information is used to authenticate users, establish ownership and controller access, deliver requested remote commands, maintain configured channels, secure the service and diagnose failures. TV Gadget does not sell personal information or use it for third-party advertising.
Service providers
The service currently uses Google Firebase and Google Cloud for authentication, application verification, ownership records, remote command transport and infrastructure; Resend to deliver account and security emails; and Cloudflare to route incoming support email. Streaming services opened by the Gadget operate under their own privacy policies.
Retention and deletion
Information is retained while required to provide and secure an active account and Gadget. Default Google Cloud operational logs are currently retained for 30 days; required administrative audit logs are retained for 400 days. Complete self-service account deletion, ownership transfer and controller revocation are not yet available; these are required before a public production release. Invited testers may request deletion through the person who provided their test access.
Security
TV Gadget uses encrypted network connections, Firebase identity and App Check, least-privilege cloud roles, one-use pairing/invitation proofs, and owner-isolated local Gadget profiles. No system can be guaranteed completely secure.
Children
The Good Old TV app is intended for adults managing a TV Gadget and is not directed to children.
