What is Good Old TV?
Good Old TV makes programmes, series, music and playlists behave more like familiar television channels. The viewer switches on, changes channel and watches with a simple physical remote.
Is it a streaming service?
No. Good Old TV controls content from supported third-party services but does not provide their content or subscriptions.
Does the viewer need a smartphone or account?
The viewer does not need to use a phone or understand the app. A family member or carer uses the caregiver app to configure and support the paired gadget.
Which buttons are on the remote?
Power, volume up and down, channel up and down, previous and next episode, rewind and forward 10 seconds, mute, and play or pause. There is no menu or directional pad.
Does it show a menu of streaming apps on the TV?
No. Configured content appears as a simple channel-like line-up. The viewer does not choose between streaming-app launchers.
Can family help remotely?
Yes. The caregiver app is designed to let a trusted family member or carer configure channels, control playback and manage settings from elsewhere.
What equipment is needed?
A Good Old TV gadget connects to the television and network. Exact production hardware is still subject to change.
Can I buy Good Old TV now?
No. It is currently an unfinished, invitation-only private test and is not yet offered as a public or paid service.
Where can I register interest?
Use the Register interest form. It opens a pre-addressed message in your own email app; the website does not store the address.
