Channels and streaming services

Set up the programmes they enjoy.

Connect each service on GoodOldTV first, then copy a supported programme or playlist link into the caregiver app.

The simple route

Connect. Copy. Add.

You only sign in once for each service. After that, a link tells GoodOldTV exactly what to make into a channel.

  1. Connect the service

In the app, open Settings → Streaming services and choose the service.

  2. Copy a programme link

Open the programme, episode or playlist in its usual app or website and choose Share or copy the address.

  3. Add the channel

Open Channels → Add channel, paste the link, choose a clear name and add an optional description.

Signing in

Sign in on the television

  1. Make sure the television is on and GoodOldTV is showing.
  2. In the caregiver app, open Settings → Streaming services.
  3. Choose a service. Its own sign-in page opens on the television.
  4. Use a QR code or device code if the service offers one. Otherwise use the secure controls in the app.
  5. Finish any profile choice, approval question or player-volume setting.
  6. Tap Sign-in and profile ready.

The controls can feel a little unusual because your sign-in stays on GoodOldTV. Account details are entered directly into the streaming service’s own page rather than being handled by GoodOldTV.

Adding a channel

Paste the link into the app

  1. Find the programme, episode, live channel or playlist described for the service below.
  2. Use Share → Copy link, or copy the address from a browser.
  3. In GoodOldTV, open Channels → Add channel and paste it.
  4. Give the channel a short, familiar name. Add a description if it will help the caregiver remember what it contains.
  5. Review the detected service, then save.

Sign-in comes first. GoodOldTV will ask you to connect the detected service before it accepts a channel from it. If the link is not a supported programme or playlist address, the app shows Link not supported.

Supported services

Instructions for each service

Availability, subscriptions and content rights depend on the service and country. Use an account that can play the chosen content on the web.

YouTubePlaylist channels

Before you start

A Google/YouTube account and a playlist containing the videos you want. Use a public or unlisted playlist that the signed-in account can open.

Prepare the playlist

Add the videos in the order you want them to play. Turn shuffle off. Enable autoplay so YouTube can move naturally between videos.

Get the channel link

Open the playlist—not an individual video by itself—then choose Share and copy its link. A supported link contains a list=… playlist identifier.

SpotifyPremium playlist channels

Before you start

A Spotify Premium account is required for GoodOldTV playback. Create a playlist and add the music in the order you want.

Prepare the playlist

Turn shuffle off. GoodOldTV requests playlist repeat so the channel can continue after the last track.

Before you start

A Netflix account and profile that can play the programme. Check that the profile’s autoplay preference matches the experience you want.

Start the movie or episode, then copy the address beginning viaplay.com/player/default//…. Catalogue, homepage and sign-in addresses are not channel links.

An NLZIET subscription. During setup, select the profile GoodOldTV should restore after a browser or device restart.
